Do I need to officially register my business in Singapore?
Quote from Martin Schweiger on April 3, 2019, 3:31 pmIn Singapore, all types of businesses (except those exempted) must be registered. Otherwise, you may be fined up to $10,000 and/or imprisoned up to 2 years.
--
You are exempted from registration, if you intend to carry on your business as an individual under only your full name.
However, if your business name includes descriptive words before or after your name, such as “Home-Baked Cakes by Lim Ah Kao”, you must register your business.
Foreigners are also required to register their business in Singapore. This is unless they are carrying on business in Singapore in the name of a foreign company that has already been registered under the Companies Act.
