We hear often that IP is an intangible asset and how it is valuable to a company. However, there is often very little guidance on how to use these intangible assets to generate an income or profit for the company.
Without a plan for monetization/commercialization, the expenses spent to obtain IP in the first place is wasted, because there is no return on investment.

What I have seen were people who were successful entrepreneurs who also had IP. And I have met successful employees who generated IP.
Telling inventors that generating IP will make them rich should be classified as a punishable offense.
