Patent claims for black box software inventions

I have a patent application for an electric device with a computer control unit. The invention is a method for controlling the device.

The new electrical device is characterized by the new control method, which has about 10 inventive improved details (=subject matter for subclaims).

Should I claim

a) one independent method claim, plus 10 method subclaims, plus one independent device claim,

OR

b) one independent device claim, plus 10 device subclaims, plus one independent method claim?

And why?
