Registered designs work much better than patents because the judges just compare some drawings/photos with what they see as the alleged infringement. Not much interpretation is needed.
Having said that, it is of utmost importance that you make the judges lives as easy as possible, by filing proper representations of what you are seeking protection for. Use dotted lines where allowable in order to mark those parts that you are not seeking protection for. And that is quite different from country to country, so the WIPO-registered Hague agreement designs are out.
